Putting your Charts in the Sea Clear directory ---------------------------------------------- 1. You CAN put your all your 'WCI' charts in Sea Clear's charts directory. That is found in C:\Program Files\SeaClear Putting your Charts in a separate 'Charts' folder ---------------------------------------- If you are like me, you have a separate Charts directory already established. 1. Put them where ever you like (c:\Charts\SanBlas, for example) 2. Open up Mapcal2 from c:\Program Files\Sea Clear (there's also a shortcut in the Seaclear program group in the Start Menu) 3. From the menu, use Tools/Set Directories and add in the specific directory, ie c:\Charts\San Blas. 4. Then from the menu, use Tools/Autoload List/Scan for New Charts to force an update to the internal chart list that SeaClear uses. Now close MapCal. You don't need it any more unless you want to make your own charts. Now check the installation -------------------------- 1. Open Sea Clear 2. Make sure 'Automatic Off' is in red in the lower right corner. (if it says 'Automatic On', then click it and it will turn off)... This controls the auto-chart auto-follow me function. 3. Select File / Chart / List All 4. You should see the all the SB and 'pan' charts listed. If you have a GPS plugged in and configured (see how to do this in the PDF manual in the Sea Clear directory), clicking the Automatic button so that Automatic On is displayed, will bring up the chart where your boat is, and center the chart on your boat. You will have to turn Automatic Off to be able to scroll around. Chart scrolling manually ------------------------ You can grab and scroll a chart with the mouse, if 'Automatic Off'. When you get the to edge of a chartlet, notice the cursor changing to one with arrows on it. Double click here and it will scroll to the next chart. Note that the San Blas chartlets are not adjacent, so many times the adjacent chart will be a large area chart. On auto scroll, it takes care of this for you, switching charts when it moves off another (click the Automatic off, and connect a gps, to autoscroll). Recovery from Bad Charts ------------------------ Occasionally Sea Clear gets flakey. Try this: 1. Shut down Sea Clear 2. Open the Sea Clear directory (c:\Program Files\SeaClear) 3. Locate and delete the SCAIndex.bin file 4. Open up MapCal2 5. From the menu, use Tools/Autoload List/Recreate to force the chart list to be rebuilt.
